Sub-county local governments are hereby established as Administrative Districts, Chiefdoms, Clans, General Towns, Cites, Townships and Boroughs.
Statutory Districts
All existing statutory districts shall continue to exist for a period of seven years after the passage of this Act (September 2018). The ministry responsible for local governments shall ensure the retirement of all statutory district employees during this seven-year period after which all existing statutory districts shall be dissolved.
Governing Structure
Administrative districts – governing structure and officials shall constitute the district advisory council, district commissioner, district administrative officer, district finance officer and district development officer.
Currently in all there are 136 districts across the state.
